Pekín: capital norte de China
Pekín es la capital de la República Popular China y una de las ciudades más grandes en el mapa del mundo.
El nombre de «Pekín» se traduce como «Capital del Norte». Los primeros asentamientos en el lugar, donde ahora se extiende la ciudad moderna, existían aún en el siglo I antes de Cristo. La historia de China, dejó aquí muchas atracciones turísticas que atraen a miles de turistas cada año.Los edificios antiguos más destacados de Pekín son los edificios de la Ciudad Prohibida, o sea el complejo más grande del palacio en el mundo, que sirvió de residencia a los emperadores chinos hasta 1912. Hoy, la Ciudad Prohibida es un museo de obras de arte y arquitectura tradicional china. Entre los monumentos antiguos también merece la pena destacar el Palacio de Verano, la fortaleza de Wangping, el Campanario y el Tambor. Todos ellos se mencionan en la guía turística de la ciudad.Otros lugares populares de la ciudad son la Plaza Tiananmen, la más grande del mundo con puertas del mismo nombre, el museo Nacional de China y el mausoleo del gobernante Mao Zedong.El área metropolitana está entrelazada por una red de carreteras y ferrocarriles. El transporte de Pekín incluye líneas del metro y casi 600 rutas de autobuses y trolebús.
