Like others have said, the high taxes imposed by this blue state have made gas much more expensive. If you're just passing thru and not immediate needing gas, hold off until you get to Missouri.

Illinois gas is overpriced! If you're in the St Louis area (MO side), fill up there. At least fountain drinks are cheap...69¢ for 32oz.
