Great museum - can easily spend a couple of hours here with a lot to learn. A modest entry fee as well, would recommend to anyone!

I love the interaction area and the mid 1800s town. Well worth a stop! And this comes from a foreigner:)

Kirkgate is a wonderfully atmospheric recreation of a Victorian street. The sweet shop there sells authentic nineteenth century treats!

Was worth the entrance fee (children go free with a paying adult), some interesting sections on toys, food, and a full mock up of a Victorian street, complete with shops and schools.

My favourite museum in York, Kirkgate is worth the admission on its own! £10 per adult (also admits 2 kids free) joint ticket for here and Yorkshire museum, gift aid it and your ticket lasts a year!

The museum is housed in prison buildings which were built on the site of the castle from the 18th century.
